Yes. It’s all over the web, and I just found out about it 30 minutes ago. Stupid me. If you search for domains at NetworkSolutions.com, they will purchase your domain and hope you buy it from them for $34.99. Pretty sleezy, huh? I think this is the stupidest thing I’ve heard. How desperate are they for cash to hold a domain that *should be* available hostage?

DON’T SEARCH AT NETWORK SOLUTIONS FOR YOUR DOMAIN NAME!

This news was recently “stickied” at Namepros (Network Solutions + Unethical go hand and hand) to help promote the awareness. Keep away unless you want your domains to be stolen for four days. If you don’t mind the $34.99 reg fee compared to the average $7.50 at other registrars, then, again, be my guest. ICANN’s comment about the situation is that that “it is legal” for Network Solutions to do this. So, what’s the best thing to do? Not use them. What idiots!

If you want to search for domains, I HIGHLY recommend Dynadot.com.  Most amazing registrar I have ever used, and I assume (after using them for 1+ years) they do NOT sell searches, etc.

If you have a blog, I highly suggest you blog about this also and get the news spread quick. This is a ridiculous business practice and they need to be put to shame. So… go blog already!
