Percentage of Internet Users Clicking on Display Ads Down by 50%

New study is out that says internet ad clicking is down by 50%.

The percentage of U.S. Internet users who click on display ads has fallen 50 percent in the last two years, according to a study by comScore, Starcom and Tacoda. (link)

The big takeaway from researchers is that display ads should be measured by something other than click-through. Shelby Bonnie, former CEO of CNET, agrees and laid out a few ideas on TechCrunch.

By display ads do they mean banners or picture ads, or text ads, or both?

Well worded text ads almost always outperform image ads.

A well worded text ad, when placed in front of a targetted audience, should always do well.

    Cleon,

Currently a lot of things going on which aren’t exactly preventing me from blogging, but require my attention and finding the interesting and unique articles to blog aren’t at the top of my list, sadly.

Fixing a lot of things that have “gone bad”, so hopefully will be back blogging 3-4 times/week again about domaining news and different things soon.

Crossing my fingers, but also need to get things stabilized before I push the blog a bit. I had to stop because I was doing the blogging for fun, so when real business issues started coming up, it was the first that had to be put on hold.

Long needed vacations don’t exactly always work out the best… so I’ve screwed up some things :P . After I get some stuff sorted out, I’m hoping for a fully updated look + new features THEN I’ll be back. Hopefully in the first week or two of November!

    Appreciate all your comments!
