Selling Yourself… on Twitter
Posted on | April 11, 2009 | 7 Comments
Twitter has always tried to find a viable business model to support its enormous growth that it has recently experienced:
So…what’s the latest “buzz” on Twitter with Twitter users? Selling yourself twits to big companies to pull in customers:
What are you doing? No what are you doing Apple, Skype, Flip, StubHub and Box.net?? These popular companies just couldn’t resist paying off Twitter users to put advertisements into their Twitter streams using the new pay-per-tweet service Magpie.
Familiar companies, huh? Very interesting to see how “creative” companies are getting to get the attention of others. It’s fun to see how different companies try to take advantage of different networking sites–and “micro blogging” sites for those politically correct–and targeting us through our own “friends.” I’m sure people are going to check out the Magpie site and others might actually use their services, so this post is going to get filed under “Online Revenue.”

“Go viral and reach up to 2,000,000 Twitter followers with your message.”
Check out pictures of the ad tweets.

These companies did not advertise through Magpie. They are affiliates using magpie to earn commissions.
