Court Order: Google To Remove Websites From Its Search Index
Censoring the internet? I understand that these type of websites don’t exactly promote education and instead, make people want to “buy” their education, but seriously… this far as to have them removed from “Google”? What about Yahoo! and Live? Ask? Interesting. Here’s a link to the full documented page: Click Here
NOW, THEREFORE, it is stipulated by Google and SNR, and ORDERED by the Court:
1. Google shall promptly remove the Specified Websites from its search index pending further Court Order;
2. If subsequently added to the list of Specified Websites found by the Court to be unlawful in a modification the Court’s Order, Google shall remove the following additional websites from its search index pending further Court Order; thesisquest.com, dissertationquest.com, dissertationSquest.com, termpaperSquest.com, essaySquest.com, researchpaperSquest.com, disspertationexpert.co.uk, thesisexpert.co.uk, courseworkexpert.co.uk, assignmentexpert.co.uk, and academicresearchwriting.com;

As an educator, I dislike these “cheat” sites; however, they should continue to be indexed so that we can continue to find them and use Google’s indexing to discover when students are cheating.
Google’s indexing is a great tool for teachers; the people bringing these lawsuits forth are simply driving these sites underground.

I absolutely agree. My professor was just talking to our class about how easy it has been to find cheaters online due to search engines. The only problem is a lot of sites aren’t posting up already-made and used essays anymore and a lot are going the “custom” way, which is probably why these sites are being targeted. Even though, I don’t think that a court should be able to order a domain ban from the search engines. Should be free game for all, and those that go against the webmaster guidelines/TOS of the search company get removed (think black hat).
Thanks for the comment!

Imagine, if the govt. makes Google (a private company) ban these sites from their index we are giving the govt precedent to force Google to ban additional sites later. Just can’t wait till the govt. says that Google can no longer index sites that promote political beliefs that are not in the govt. interest.
We all loose our rights in a slow manner, usually agreeing with the privilege taken away until we realize that we have lost everything.

Well said, Troy. It’s going to be a tough couple of years the way things are currently going.

So if those get removed it will start a whole trend in censorship.
I agree with the first comment since it will make it easier to find out who is cheating since most people who opt for this method are also to lazy to rewrite the work.

“So if those get removed it will start a whole trend in censorship.”
That’s how it normally starts, unfortunately. One law and it becomes a domino effect. Going to keep my eye out on situations like this to see where it goes.

I cant understand what the point is!? I mean people will still find them and its not that hard to get new websites online with the same database details.
Why is the goverment trying to control this anyway!? Whatever happened to democracy.

I disagree with the above remark. I think in these tough economic times we need to rethink our old ways of thinking. For more information visit http://www.alaskapersonalinjurylawyer.net
