The AdSense Gods Have Answered: Channel Limit “Upped” To 500

It has always been a PIA using AdSense channels. With certain websites, it’s great to separate your ads AdSense channels so you can better monetize your site. For example, using AdSense leaderboards vs 336 squares near your content. You can tell which one performs better and where the eye-balls are focussed on your sites. Great! BUT–many “developers” always run into a problem when developing a large number of sites: THE ADSENSE CHANNEL LIMIT! Many think that 200 channels is more than enough for the “average” developer who many not even need more than 10, but some people use up their channels extremely fast. I, for one, have had my channels maxed out till now.
AdSense E-mail:
“We noticed that you’re using most or all of the channels in your account, so we’re happy to let you know that your AdSense account now supports 500 channels instead of 200. This change is part of a limited beta test that we’re conducting in response to publisher requests for additional reporting capabilities. We hope that these additional channels will help you better track and improve your AdSense performance.”
Suhh-weeet. Although I’m not exactly taking advantage of developing names in the best of ways, I do enjoy knowing EXACTLY what works where with different layouts, so I use LOTS of channels. If there’s a lot of content on a specific page, it isn’t unusual for me to throw in (2) AdSense Link unit ads and (3) different AdSense box/leaderboards/sky-scraper ads on the page. When it comes to making specific pages (and/or pages that receive a lot of organic traffic), I go ahead and add specific channels for those pages to better figure out exactly what’s going on. It was a huge part of my domain monetization model early 2008… but I slowly moved a bunch of names back to domain parking when the effort just wasn’t worth it (in my eyes). This increase in channel limits might get me back into seeing what’s exactly up with my AdSense account and possibly develop a couple domains.
