“Got An E-Mail Regarding A Trademark”
Posted on | February 14, 2009 | 3 Comments
Extremely interesting discussion regarding a Namepros.com user who received an e-mail for a domain that was infringing on a trademark (typo domain). I was reading it and the famous John Berryhill posted on the thread and since there was so much information regarding the situation, I figured it would be worth posting the link for others to read and learn (some decent information in the thread regarding giving up the domain, infringment scams, etc.). I’d post the initial post just so people don’t waste their time in-case they don’t want to read the thread, but it’s a pretty decently sized post, so not worth the whole copy paste. Just check it out if you have free time

There is indeed a lot of scams going on and always will be.
People will try to play you… Usually what I once I receive such an e-mail is reply with my lawyers information and tell them to contact him directly.
Most of the time you never hear back from then again.
Do not let yourself get bullied because there are people out there that are just looking for a sucker to hand them over their good domain name or developed website.
I’ve seen it happen too many times.
Best,
Mike
