Mini-Site Developers: New Wordpress Plugin That You Might Love

Posted on | January 26, 2009 | 4 Comments

I was just checking my Tweets and found that there was a new Wordpress Plugin released by DropBuzz.com. What’s so special about this plugin? Well, as PPC continues to diminish, domainers are starting to take different routes to monetize their domain names other than “set it and forget it” domain parking (there was even a recent thread on Namepros that the number of parked domains was decreasing). So, what other ways am I talking about? Good ‘ol domain development. Yeah, that hard stuff where you put up something on the domain other than a page filled with advertisements (I’m super jealous of the people the end up developing cool ‘mini-sites’ that are actually useful and bring in money). The only problem is: When you develop, adding a noticeable “This Domain is For Sale” isn’t always that easy. Moving on, that’s exactly what this WP-Domainer Wordpress Plugin does. Check out the picture (click the picture in order to see it more clearly):

As you can see, the benefits of this plugin for those that create Wordpress based mini-sites on domains that the owners still wish to have available for sale is extremely great. You can end up keeping all the content on the site and not really bother the traffic, which make you money by clicking on either AdSense ads or some other advertising network, AND have that little banner at the top, which enables people who are interested in the domain name for purchase to contact you.

The control panel of WP-Domainer is extremely easy (Settings > Domainer Engine – Pictures below, Click to enlarge). Simple type in what you want said at the top and edit a couple CSS settings to have the banner shown as you please (background, font-style, etc.). You can also input html so you can have people click and use a contact form integrated into the site to contact you (no need to post your e-mail). Alright. I probably over-did it with the whole explanation, but with mini-site development starting to cost a lot more than it probably should be, people doing the dirty work themselves will probably appreciate a simple plugin like this.

Here’s a link to the WP-Domainer download page. Live in action at ScriptureNews.com (NOT my domain nor affiliated with Fka200.com and Sammy Ashouri)

Wow, What a great idea for domainers. This plug in would also work for just selling blogs. But the idea is right on the money. I will have to use this to sell a few of my developed blogs I have.

    Nice site.

not bad, you may want to look into max blog press though. it allows you to have multiple lines, rotating, color customization options and so forth. i just started using it on my blog.

Oh wow. Max Blog Press is sort of the beefed up version of this, I’d say.

    For those that are interested:

I’ll be updating the post a little later on to mention Max Blog Press… It looks a lot easier since you can choose your colors as opposed to knowing the html color code.

    Thanks Patrick!

@ Randall: Hope the plugin helps you out! I’m thinking about developing a couple of my sites and will most likely be using this as well. I had an LLLL.net that I really liked but was banned by Google when I caught it on a drop. It was expiring, but then when I saw it had been “unbanned”, I went ahead and renewed it. Might blog about what I will do with the domain once I figure it out ;) .
