What Other Domain Sales Were There In January 2009?

Being a little low on “material” to blog about due to lack of time, here’s on that can quickly get me by till tomorrow where hopefully creativity will emerge: domain sales. Apparently domain sales are a pretty popular topic on the blog (and most searched through the Fka200.com “search” box), so let’s put up some domains that were reported sold from January 5, 2009 through January 11, 2009. It’s always worth finding out where others are spending their money online to tweak any plans that you may have to maximize money (hot niches?)!

Top 10 reported domain name sales of January 5 – January 11 (2009):

1. 288.com - $43,222
2. Dubai.info - $35,000
3. Online-Casino.nl - €23,800 = $31,654
4. HotelesBaratos.com (“cheap hotels” in Spanish) – €20,025 = $26,633
5. IfICanDream.com - $20,000
6. JBF.net - $15,388
7. eLink.com - £9,700 = $14,162
8. OnLive.nl - €10,500 = $13,965
9. VE.net - $12,125
10. BidPlace.com - $10,001

That Geo .info for $35,000 definitely is an eye-catcher. (dot)INFO? $35K?! It’s Dubai… c’mon! I’m not exactly sure what is going to happen with that domain, but it just goes to show: if the keyword is good enough, you MIGHT be able to get something well worth it with a motivated end-user. My reasoning for capitalizing might? It’s because you might be able to get some sort of wonderful keyword in some “exotic” tld, but there might not be any end-users (or resellers?) that would want to buy it.

Other than Dubai.info, nothing else really stands out to me. The rest of the domains, when further examined, are somewhat reasonable sales, but nothing that just jumps out. Till next week, I guess. Still, this week was great news for info holders (I probably have only 1 or 2).

I read your piece about the significant revenue slump from your web properties. I do think it would be wise for you to look at some additional online streams of income. I’ll let you know what my Clickbank research uncovers. I have to tell you that Google isn’t all that bad. It doesn’t bring in huge sums for bloggers, but every little bit helps each of us. Look into it, I think it will be worth your time.
