Jerry Yang Out, Carol Bartz In: Yahoo’s New CEO

It was announced earlier today that Carol Bartz is going to be the CEO successor of Jerry Yang at Yahoo. I’ve definitely heard of Carol Bartz before, but never in “detail”, so obviously something as large as this would spark me to do some research on her. I’ve originally known her as the CEO for Autodesk, and on the Carol Bartz wiki page it says:
According to Forbes, “Since 1992, Bartz, 56, has transformed Autodesk from an aimless maker of PC software into a leader of computer-aided design software, targeting architects and builders.”
Update: Great article regarding Carol Bartz being Yahoo CEO.
So she has obviously done something right considering Autodesk is a huge brand. I should also note that Bartz is 60 years of age, where hopefully she can bring some business-sense to Yahoo regarding partnerships and future expansion. Here is Wall Street’s reaction to the news:
Yeah, that’s a drop. Not that much but still… Here’s the article about Bartz being the new Yahoo CEO.

@ ssahsleb:
I was thinking the same, but someone that has been with Autodesk and “transformed” their business and made them into what they are today… the same can’t be said about that. I definitely remembered trying to help out older relatives (and my dad) trying to browse the internet freely, but most just could NOT incorporate the internet into their lives the way us “youngsters” have.
A lot are saying that Carol might end up OKing some sort of Yahoo+Microsoft deal, but I highly doubt that a brand new CEO is going to go ahead and jump at a deal that enormous this quick. A possible search partnership yes, but definitely not a buy-out. We’ll see what happens at the end of this month which will be the “1 year anniversary” of the whole Yahoo+Microsoft deal fiasco, which has been messing with Yahoo’s stock price for a while.
