“Domainers Resolutions…” From Thought To Action To Evolution

Posted on | January 3, 2009 | No Comments

I remember I posted a “Domainers Resolutions” post for 2008. Did I succeed? Let’s see! (Here’s a link with my descriptions about what I was focusing and what the titles mean).

1. Acquire - CHECK!

Definitely acquired more names I “wanted” through 2008. I didn’t end up selling the domain that I mentioned in this section. Actually had a conversation about it on New Year’s Day. Interesting looking back!

2. Organize – CHECK!

Yep. I stuck through with the whole “excel” and keeping track of revenues. Actually, organization made me money in 2 ways: 1) KNOWLEDGE IS POWER. I kept track of what was working and what just wasn’t. Moved domains around from provider to provider and am getting the hang at just what works where. 2) STATS ERRORS. I had some payments go through that were lower than what I had logged. Since I logged daily and kept good stats, I knew what was going on and made sure to check information after my providers finalized their stats (such as Namedrive). I had some companies send me checks that were lower than I had reported, and quickly got it all taken care of after mentioning it to them. Awkward, but I’m glad I had logs… I would’ve lost about $300.

3. Develop – CHECK!

Ended up expanding some sites that were getting traffic. There are some that are getting traffic just fine, but monetizing is a pain. Definitely got this taken care of through ’08.

4. Improve Communication Skill - So/So

I’ve made a lot of “friends” and connections with the use of this blog and social interacting (regarding domains), but in the way I talked about improving communication in regards to domain sales? Nah. Not really.

5. Network - CHECK!

Definitely. Met lots of domainers, had numerous great get-togethers at Starbucks and restaurants, and receive daily e-mails from readers/people that use my contact form.

6. Contests – NO!

Nah. Not my thing. Don’t care too much about contests on the blog nor do I even remember the idea I had in mind.

7. Promotion – CHECK!

Definitely promoted. I’ve visited many, many blogs (and have my personal favorites and must-reads) and always leave comments… which, yes, have my name/link to this blog. That’s one way of promotion, right? :)

8. Access More Often - CHECK!

“iPhone”

What do I plan on doing in 2009? Check back later!
