Digital Point Forums: 7-Day Buy/Sell/Trade Ban
Posted on | December 7, 2008 | 10 Comments
Well, I mentioned I was recently unloading a couple of my LLLL.coms/3C.net domains, and had to make a post about it due to being banned at Digital Point Forums. < Warning: This post is sort of a rant >
I was contacted by several people who were interested in the domains through my blog contact form/who-is and explained the situation. It really does give you a bad image, and on top of that… I lost my account statistics due to a Digital Point database error–4,000+ posts, great reputation, and itrader. I finally was able to get back on DP on December 6, 2008 at around 5:43PM… when I checked the reason I had “been banned” I nearly threw up:
It was because I posted “PM please” on a thread where the seller asked to notify him in order to see the domain. I don’t really know why people hide the domain (might be stolen, might have fake PR and no one wants anyone else to mention, they don’t want it indexed since its unique, etc), but back on subject: WTF? I got an infraction earlier for running my post count up… I’m pretty used to posting all day long on DP, so losing my posts was a loss… carrying on posting the way I normally did with a new account probably made things suspicious as to why a “n00b” would be replying as much, but c’mon… are you guys serious? I’ve reached the point where I don’t even care for the community anymor and will probably use it as a platform just to buy/sell. Absolutely ridiculous to drive away (IMO) a quality member who has helped HUNDREDS of people through PMs regarding domains/AdSense.
Oh well. Not my loss. At least now I have more time to do other things. I’m just absolutely stunned at the situation…
Best mod @ DP = wisdomtool.
</end rant>
This is one of those “natural” posts. Don’t mind any errors, or hell… reading it. Just something I wanted exposed and wanted to waste a couple more minutes before I actually get to studying for finals. OK. It’s off my chest. Have a happy Sunday everyone!

Honestly, you are better off not going to DP. There are so many better forums, blogs, and communities around, that you are spoilt for choice. This is really a blessing in disguise…

DP has gone down hill and i get so close as well to posting on the boards at why they ask for super crazy prices for names like 2cudance4me.com (example)besides a few people on their the place really is a joke!

@ Jeff – I definitely agree. I, for on, really enjoy being at Namepros. The bar @ DP has dropped so far down that it’s ridiculous.
@ DN Champ – The Domain section @ DP is the most entertaining of them all!
It just frustrated me that after being a member for so long I would have my built-up account “lost” due to an error and then have to start fresh. Having the account w/ 4K+ posts made it extremely easy for me to get new sites indexed within a matter of days. Then getting the puny account and being banned for such a ridiculous reason. OH WELL.
Thanks for the comments!

DP sucks, it bans you for nothing.
AM glad they banned me so I can spend more time on my site creation.
DP is…BS

I have been on DP for a few years, on and off, few things I have noticed on DP are:
(i) There are lots of scammers. “Lots” is an understatement.
(ii) Sellers do not respect the rules they set for auctions.
(iii) The admins are very unreasonable with respect to giving warnings. They are more worried about looking if members are posting more than they should rather than looking for people in above (i) & (ii)
(iv) Sellers are charging the roof for websites or domains that are worth zilch.
Not a rant, but plain facts about DP

I got banned because they said I PM someone but actually that someone was spamming me.
You wonder how can that be …are they reading your PM? isn’t PM supposed to be private?

The crazy moderation at DP has really turned that place into a dump.
A group of us ex-DP members have started a much better webmaster forum at NetBuilders.org.
Instead of going back to a forum that obviously doesn’t deserve you, why not join the party over at NetBuilders?

Yes, I am at NetBuilders.org. and it is a good forum.
Hell with DP aka dead Point..ha ha
