Make Your Site A Bit More Interactive – Google Friend Connect

Posted on | December 6, 2008 | 2 Comments

Ever wanted to make your site just a tad bit more interactive? Google has released something pretty cool: Google Friend Connect. What exactly does Google Friend Connect do? It’s a way that lets webmasters add social features to their site by just adding a little bit of code. You don’t have to know any PHP, C++, or any other “programming language”.

Whoa. Pretty cool.

What makes this service even better is that people don’t need to sign up for your specific site. They can use their probably already exisiting account from Google, Yahoo, AOL, or OpenID. I just wish MSN was on this list!

Here’s a Youtube video on Google Friend Connect:

I have a couple sites I think this might actually be awesome for. Check it out! Let me know what you think ;) . If you’re already using this on your site, feel free to post it below in the comments section using the <a href=”http://<YOUR DOMAIN>.tld”>Anchor Text if you’d like</a>. Remember: This site is DO-FOLLOW… so you benefit SEO-wise!

Looks like they don’t have a general purpose chat widget yet. Maybe someone has written one using this OpenSocial API thing??

A chat would definitely be cool and useful. I’m considering testing this out on one of my sites once I have the time.
