Microsoft Decides To Forget About Purchasing Yahoo!

Yep. It has been announced that Microsoft isn’t going to bend over backwards for Yahoo anymore. Yahoo! didn’t think their offer from $31.00 to $33.00 was enough!

“Despite our best efforts, including raising our bid by roughly $5 billion, Yahoo! has not moved toward accepting our offer. After careful consideration, we believe the economics demanded by Yahoo! do not make sense for us, and it is in the best interests of Microsoft stockholders, employees and other stakeholders to withdraw our proposal,” said Ballmer.

Sort of sad for me to see this. I didn’t really do any real research on the merger, but was extremely curious to see what could possibly be done to the internet if Microsoft did in fact end up swallowing up Yahoo. Super search engine? AdSense gets owned? Hotmail/Yahoo Mail get a fabulous make over? Who knows now.

I wonder if Yahoo’s stock prices are going to go down on Monday… Wonder if the stockholders would like that and what effect it’ll have on the company!

    Of course the Yahoo stock dropped like a rock! Personally I do not see how MSN or Yahoo can topple Google even if they did team up.
