New AdSense TOS Agreement – What Does It Mean?

Posted on | February 27, 2008 | 3 Comments

Well, if you’re an AdSense user you probably noticed the “Accept the new TOS or you won’t be able to logon after May 25, 2008″ warning. Of course the crap they want you to agree with is as long as a novel… so… what do you do? Hope that someone took the time out of their day to make sense of it for you so you don’t have to waste time reading through it.

That’s exactly what Jennifer at JenSense.com did for us. Thank you Jen. We do appreciate it (especially me since I would’ve had to go through the work you did). She did an excellent job at providing readers great insight on just exactly what the hell the new agreement has.

I suggest you look over it. Something like having to now have a privacy policy on your page addressing certain issues might be in the new TOS. Wait–privacy policies are now required? Yes.

Here’s the link directly to the new AdSense Blogspot post regarding “Updated Terms and Conditions.”

“This time around, most of the changes to the Terms and Conditions fall into two broad categories: 1) future products and features and 2) privacy requirements. Specifically, one of the main changes is that the terms anticipate future products that may become available in other advertising formats and mediums, for example Gadget Ads. As we look forward to monetizing more online and offline content, we’ve re-worded some portions of the terms to make them applicable across a broader array of media and formats — anticipating, for example, that future products may be priced, paid, or managed differently than current ones.”

AdSense Gadget Ads, huh? Interesting. I can’t wait to report on those! Well. Without getting into more mumbo jumbo like Google’s stock getting owned (Closed @ $464 last time I checked it) and them addressing click-fraud, I’m going to let you guys be. Oh yeah, some are actually calling this a “Google Recession.” Pretty cool title… actually… no. It sucks. I didn’t report on some comments I’ve seen across the forums the last two days, but supposedly some domainers are in for “bad times” starting February 28, 2008. I’m not sure exactly what the means, but trust me… if anything happens, I shall report on it. I just want to see what’s going to happen with Bodis at the beginning of next month… supposedly we should hang tight and not be disappointed. I’m not going to jump ship anytime soon, but wouldn’t a statement like that scare you?!

OK. Again: Read about the new TOS @ JenSense.com.

P.S: This redesign is NOT final. Nowhere near it, actually. I’d pay someone to do the customizations for me, but nah. I’m sure I can do it myself.

The reason this google scroogle is setting new tos is because the advertisers placing adsense on their sites let them do so.

If all the owners of domain names got together and formed their own advertising business world wide google scroogle’s revenue would sink like the titanic when it hit the ice berg (especially their share price).
