Google and Ask.com Domain Parking Feed? Revenue Drop Caused By This?
Posted on | February 10, 2008 | 10 Comments
*** I REALLY ENCOURAGE READERS TO READ JOHNNY B’S COMMENT.Trying to get updates the situation straight from parking providers.
I mentioned previously that there’s been a noticeable revenue drop overall (not just AdSense–which is actually semi-normal today). I read an interesting report at isitmeoriseveryoneelsestupid.com mentioning that “Google renews ASK.com Feed.” Looks like there’s an issue going on with Ask feeds… and oddly enough, my #1 revenue source from parking domains with Parking Panel and Parked uses Ask’s feed. Yep. Those are down–a lot.
Crap. Can’t really put one and one together with the information written in the article and maybe I’m just speculating, but this sucks.
I’m being told that Google have renewed ASK.com’s incredible deal to sub sell their advertisers feed on their own search platform, provided ASK cease re-re-selling it to 3rd party providers – including to ASK’s parking partners.
Looks like next week is going to be a pretty interesting week for me. Need to see what exactly is going on, what this means, and how the current parking providers are going to deal with this situation if it is in fact a major one. As of now I’ve read NOTHING relating to this, but my Ask.com parking feeds have dropped in revenue. Most noticeably (extremely noticeable) is my Parking Panel revenue.
Guess I just have to wait this out a week or two and see what happens.

I can’t divulge which head of which parking company told me, but word is that it is being canceled for every parking company and this person also told me that they don’t have a good backup plan in place even though they are trying furiously to figure something out.
This is one of the top parking companies.
I looks like all adult and racy stuff like alcohol, strip clubs, etc… will be out of ads.
I believe this is an attempt to get domainers to stop parking with Ask feed that is provided by many parking companies doing biz with Yahoo, so they go to Sedo or other Google feed, which is a cheaper paying feed, unfortunately.

I appreciate the comment and the info. Seems like the domaining industry is going to go through a rough change? I’m really surprised not many people are talking about this.

David… Just got a mini heart attack. I’ve e-mailed Parking Panel since they are at the top of my list in terms of importance. Lets see what happens.
I did receive news changes were coming (from Parking Panel) a while ago, but I didn’t expect it to be something as big as this.
Bodis also? Damn.

Please note that Skenzo’s Customers are NOT impacted AT ALL. If you are a Skenzo customer, you can speak to your account manager for more details.

Parking domain is over, much better to develop and work on SEO adding URL to link directories…
