Bodis Domain Parking Review
Posted on | January 31, 2008 | 7 Comments
I mentioned that I was going to do a Bodis.com Domain Parking Review, so here it is. I signed up with Bodis back in 2007 when it was first opened its doors. I really don’t remember the exact month, but I’ve been in since the beginning. I didn’t start parking my domains there (probably only had 1-2 domains there in the beginning) till September. The results I got in September were WOW. October was better since I parked more domains there, but getting into the last 6 months with Bodis requires a segment on E! True Hollywood Story. Without talking about what used to be of Bodis, I’m just going to discuss what it is now. There’s been a lot of commotion of what used to be of Bodis. Forget what it used to be. Cheaters ruined our domain parking revolution, and we now all have to suffer. With the new filters and such, things aren’t as great as they were in September–but there has been a DRAMATIC improvement in the way the system is being managed.
Before starting this, I’d like to mention in a (tiny) nutshell what domain parking exactly is. It’s taking a domain and pointing it to a domain parking company’s nameservers and having them fill it up with ads. Domains that you may have which are “collecting dust” would probably be better off parked instead of not doing anything. If you have a domain which receives type-in (or you think it does), parking is for you–if you don’t want to develop and want to make revenue. For more information, visit http://www.fka200.com/domain-parking.
Enough mumbo jumbo, let’s jump into the Bodis Domain Parking Review! At first glance, Bodis doesn’t exactly look like a parking company. The page looks pretty professional. You look around the site, read the words “Revolution in Domain Parking” and then you realize what Bodis.com exactly does. The first thing you’d think of doing on the site if you weren’t a member would probably be to click “Take A Tour.“ So let’s click it. Right away you can see two examples of the domain parking landing pages with Bodis.com. The first one is a customized view. You can choose the colors you want, keywords on the left side bar, add a customized picture, and even add your own content. At the top right of the page there’s a little search box. Pretty cool. Here’s a quickie example of a page using Bodis’ customize feature: http://www.5v2.net (not a live link on purpose).

Moving on, you have my favorite. The simple, yet elegant in a way unknown to me, landing pages. There really is not much to say about this. It’s so straight forward it’s amazing. You just choose your keywords and set a title and you’re done. People hopefully come to the site, know that those are links, click, and get sent to a second page where the advertisements for that specific keyword is. With the domains I have, I feel this simple technique is the absolute best way for me to monetize using domain parking. I’ve run into a slump right now at organization and I have domains all over the place, but I’m going to be taking care of that soon and moving 95% of my domains to Bodis. Right now I’d say 60% are there, yet the good ones are still at either Parked, Parking Panel, Namedrive, or even Sedo. Yes… I still use Sedo. Some domains just work there. You need to test test test! A site using the simple domain parking lander at Bodis (this is also the default) is http://www.BondAccounts.com.

Alright. Those are the landers. If you’re still interested in Bodis, keep reading. If you no longer care, keep reading. Moving on let me show you what happens right when you login (assuming you have an account that has been approved). You get to a page which shows you the most recent date the domain parking stats have been updated. For this example, it is January 29, 2008. Today is January 31, 2008. The stats at Bodis are shown for previous days and are normally updated the day after. Some don’t like this, but it’s fine for me. Live stats would be nice… but revenue is more important. So let’s see if that comes up in Bodis V2. On the left hand side bar you have: Overview, Add Domains, Manage Domains, Domain Report, Full Report, Payment Details, Account Details. Obviously each link speaks for itself, but let me go through what’s on each page.

The overview link takes you to the page above, so there’s really no explanation there. The Add Domains link takes you to a page where you can add all the domains into your Bodis account. You can add as many domains as you want in one shot and add the keyword you want associated with that domain as well. A description isn’t really necessary since it’s standard, so let me just show you a picture:

Next up, you have the Domain Report link. This is my favorite link since it tells you how much you made! You can filter by dates, domain, and.. uhh… see stats sorted by number of visitors, clicks, CTR, domain, and Revenue. Here’s the picture you probably didn’t expect (Domains and stats have been deleted):

Full report is a link that shows you the full month revenue, visitors, clicks, and CTR for the months.

Next link on the side bar is the Payment Details. Bodis can get your money to you by: Check, Direct Deposit, Paypal, or Wire Transfer. There has been a recent change in the Bodis Terms Of Service in regards to payment and the minimum payment threshold. Before there was no minimum (expect I think for Wire Transfer)… let me just copy paste the e-mail below (Dated January 29, 2008 Subject: Change of Terms):
Dear Member,
There has been a change in Bodis.com Terms of Service: The minimum payout for Check and Direct Deposit has been adjusted to $20. We still support no minimum payouts via Paypal. If you are not meeting our minimum threshold, but would still like to be eligible for payment, then please modify your payment type to “Paypal”. For our full Terms of Service, please visit http://www.bodis.com/tos.html. For any questions or concerns related to your payments, please contact support@bodis.com.
Sincerely, Bodis.com Support Team
So you get the idea. Still… with no fees and no minimum from Paypal (my option), they are still damn great.

The last link, Account Details, is probably the most boring. All there is on this page is Change E-mail and Change Password. Interesting, huh? Hell, since you guys are so special, you still get a picture of this page!

Little tid-bits about Bodis.com:
Bodis.com is seriously an amazing domain parking platform. They do have some things they need to take care of–like taking care of the huge difference in CPC (Cost Per Click) between Now VS September revenue, but I don’t blame them for that. I blame the scum who try to take advantage of honest people/companies and milk money out of them. Just like my post about domain tasting and how Network Solutions ruined it for the industy (yeah, still a little shocked about that). The CPC of Bodis.com is on the rise, so that’s good. There was also a release by Matt (cfguru360) on Namepros (he is the founder/owner of Bodis.com) on January 30, 2008 saying:
Well we have took our foot off the last pieces of fraud blocks yesterday, so the revenue should have peaked now. It should be up a good 20-30%.
But we still have a long way to go and a lot to improve on.
Remember: Bodis is still in beta. They are NOT accepting new publishers right now due to problems in the past and are hoping to start re-accepting once Bodis v2 is released. Bodis v2 is supposed to be a LOT better than what Bodis currently has to offer. No details have been released on that since Matt wants to stay hush-hush about the whole upgrade.
There you have it! I’m hoping I didn’t leave anything out, even if it just was a basic review of Bodis. Didn’t get into any of the technical stuff… If I missed out on anything you want to know about in regards with Bodis (assuming I can properly answer), leave a comment! Also note that the pictures have been shrunk to fit the layout of the site. Please right click > View image to see them a in a “decent” size.

Sammy, Great review. I did not know of Bodis previously, but will surely test it out now.
I would definitely be interested in more Parking company reviews. We do not currently own enough domains (in quantity) to test out how each one differs to such minute details. Hopefully we will learn in time, as we grow, but in the mean time I really appreciate all of the color to point us in the right direction.

Great Review.
Looking forward to opening an account with Bodis. I am very interested how my domain portfolio will behave with this great new option to customize.

Thanks, guys. Got some positive feedback about these from people looking at different parking providers. Was trying to catch on the SEO of my searched keywords, but I’m thinking this should be done with all parking providers. I’ll go ahead and start putting things like this up for the other providers as well.
Jamie, I think you will do well with Bodis. If you’re already not parking your domains, try Parked.com. They offer customization and you have generate revenue while waiting for Bodis v2.

I was using godaddy for the parking of my domains, but after reading this review I will give a try at Bodis as well.

Are you still there? I can’t find any 2010 review and I’m not sure about 2 years old one.
May will be great to do some update here. Thanks, Batboy.

I appreciate the review and you’ve put into this article. However, I’ve decided to steer away from domain parking and actually use http://www.noomle.com instead as they allow you to really build out your sites without any boundaries. Take a look yourself, if you like Bodis I’m sure you will love that site
