DomainFest Auction Commentary – SnapNames Live Auction

There was $800,000+ sold during today’s DomainFest SnapNames Live Auction. I say pretty damn good! I was also incredibly amazed with the software used for internet users! Compared to the DomainTools and Moniker auction, this one takes the cake!

As you can see, .com is still the leader in the domaining world, but I still think .net did fairly well for incredibly great keyword domains. .LA surprised me with that food.la… obviously Food.LA (I think?) will be used for something like Foods.Los Angeles… Possibly? DebtManagement.org was also a great buy. If developed, the keywords in that domain should rake in some nice revenue through CPC. Overall, great auction regardless of what anyone says. I was reading some reports where people were saying things were stall, but watching the auction live was fun and it was also very professional. I could’ve went down and watched the whole thing in front of my face since the auction was at the Renaissance Hotel in Los Angeles, but I decided to get some work done at home and just watch. My suggestion is to take a look at these domains. If you monitor domain sales, you get a great idea of the value of domains and what keywords can do to the price of a domain. When you see sales like this, you might go a little buy-crazy and purchase domains hoping to one day sell a fresh reg for $xx,xxx, but it isn’t like that. Remember: Quality over Quantity when it comes to buying and selling domains.
