Digital Point Forums Under Massive Phishing Attack

Posted on | January 20, 2008 | 4 Comments

As a warning, Digital Point Forums is under a MASSIVE PHISHING ATTACK. I’ve been receiving TONS of PMs with fake links to “look alike” Digital Point login screens.

Best roll over the links you receive now-a-days and make sure it’s for the real damn URL. I suggested that the mods sticky it on every forum topic, but I’m sure a mod won’t read it/care about the suggestion.

Reminds me of when people were phishing for Myspace accounts so they can get a hold of friends lists and spam the bulletins.

I’ve been a member now for a while at Digital Point and know you fka200 pretty well. We tend to run into each other in topics here and there!

Overall Digital Point has been sliding downhill for a while now. Lack of responsible and respectful staff, and poor members is leading Digital Point into a downward spiral and I’m not too sure if anything can stop it!

This is just anther reason why you must be cautious at DP, when doing business or just browsing the forums!

I have no clue what’s been going on with the mods @ DP. They have barely been doing anything to stop the spam/scams!

It would seem that DP has reached that point where they’ve gotten too large to continue doing business as they always have. In some areas of the forums, many of the more helpful folk have simply drifted away due to the children (often they are in fact kids) who simply want to create conflict or spam. Some get banned while others are permitted to continue their misbehavior. They need to start doing something about it before all that’s left are the spammers and the newbies.

Webscribbler, I agree with you completely. The amount of “kids,” “spam,” and “unprofessional users” on DP has just been unbearable. Sadly, I find myself going back–probably because there are large amounts of users to be able to communicate with for domain sales.

That’s why Namepros is my favorite ;) .
