Fka200.com 3 Month Stats

In a post I made on January 4th, 2008 titled “Can Fka200.com Be Successful?” I wrote that concluding January 15, 2008, I will do a 3-month comparison on stats. Probably my first and last time since I’m not really sure readers are interested in the traffic of another site. Instead, I’ll make things interesting and at the end of the stats and such, I’ll go ahead and just put what I did to get the traffic. Fka200.com is probably one of my low-low traffic sites… but I haven’t really done much “promotion.” There can be contests and such to get more links/RSS Readers/etc. but I’m not sure I want to be bothered by feeling like I’m harassing my visitors. For this post, I’m going to start as if the other post was never made. This means repeating November/December stats.

Alright, let’s begin!

November 15-30 2007: 562 Total Uniques

Fka200 November 2007 Stats

December 2007: 2366 Total Uniques

Fka200 December 2007 Stats

January 1-16 2008: 1753 Total Uniques
January Stats

Forgetting about my previous months, my #1 referral traffic is from… forums.digitalpoint.com.

- Direct Address/Bookmarks: 77.1%

- Search Engine Traffic: 8.8%

-Referral Traffic: 13.9%

Funny enough, for January 2008′s stats, my #1 keyword from search engines is facebook for dummies. If you guys don’t remember, I made this post about facebook for dummies on December 15, 2007. It has sent me 16 hits. LOL! My #1 keyword has sent me 16 hits. Fka200 is attracting a lot of long-tail keywords. What are long-tail keywords? They are keywords like… using candy to bake a cake instead of candy. I’m starting to see that long-tail are important. There was a marketing report on search engines and they found out that a LOT of the searches are done using long-tail keywords! Focus on them! Search engine traffic is really low for Fka200.com. I usually give 3-Months of SEO, but I’m giving this blog 6-months instead. It’s trying to stay alive in a really competitive niche… domaining news and online revenue.

Let’s breakdown the data based on the 15th day of the last 3 months:

November: 29 hits

December: 243 hits

January: 211 hits

I really do blame the decline on a no-great post yesterday. But there have been way more 300+ visits/day in January. That greatly helps.

OK, user traffic has been released. Not organized in the best way, but I wouldn’t want to go into details for just 3-month stats… especially since they look normal to me. Nothing “out of the ordinary.”

Here has been my breakdown for working on the initial traffic:

1) Post Everyday. This is especially great for SEO in the future, and a rule I made when starting out this blog. I’m not sure if I’ve posted once a day at least… but I know I have a ton of posts. 99% unique (the 1% is left open for quotes and such).

2) WordPress SEO Plugins. I’m using the All-In-One WordPress SEO Plugin. It’s been working great so far. Meta tags on each page, customize the title, and more.

3) Forum Signature Links. I’m a member at Namepros and Digitalpoint, and definitely some others, but I always added Fka200.com into my signature link. Like I wrote above, DP has been my #1 source of referral traffic.

4) Commenting On Other Blogs. I get bits and pieces of traffic from other blogs when I comment. I try not to make BS comments unless I really just want to comment but don’t have anything to add, but for the most part, if you leave an interesting comment… maybe someone will want to check out your site. I have a ton of 2-3 hits from some blogs. Spread the love and comment on the blogs… you might pick up some of their traffic.

5) Social Networking. I’ve had some traffic bursts from Stumble Upon. Using them is great, and I encourage it. I also use Blog Engage to send my blog posts to them. Along with SEO reasons, Blog Engage also sends me a good amount of referral traffic for little effort.

Other than those 5 basic things, I really can’t think of much else. I don’t really go all out on Fka200.com. Hell, I don’t even go all out on normally developed sites. I’m a parking person :) . But, my point is that a lot of people say they get 20 hits/day and they don’t know why. Unique Content is the best way to get traffic, IMO. Like I said, it may take time to start receiving that traffic, but in the end it should be worth it.

This blog is NOT being monetized, so there aren’t any earnings. I placed AdSense on here on my old template for 2-3 days and made 0.60cents. Wasn’t worth it. I just have the AdSense Firefox Referral in the side, and that hasn’t made any since a majority of my traffic is from The United States, but it’s going to stay up just in case.

I may monetize the blog in the future, but not till I see it may be worth it. If it’s only going to make me $20/month, it isn’t worth the annoyances to the visitors with the ads. If you can sneak ads in without being intrusive, then I feel it’s OK. The way this template is designed makes it harder for that. There may be a blog redesign in the future, but instead of doing it myself I think I might just pay someone.

I guess that’s enough, right? I’m thinking the number one traffic tip in my eyes now is to target long-tail keywords. This blog was mainly setup as an experiment, but I really do enjoy having it. K. 11:28A.M and I still haven’t had breakfast. See how important my blog is to me?
