Nope. Sorry, not written by me… but it is a damn good article. For the lovely domainers here at Fka200.com, here’s an article featured @ DNJournal.com with forecasts of the domaining market in 2008 from domaining experts.

First off, CEO Tim Schumacher of Sedo.com commented on Sedo’s .mobi auction that was reported here a month or so ago:

“This was probably also Sedo’s biggest bummer of the year”

Along with poor parking performance, huh? I do use them, so I am a bit of a hypocrite, but it’s only because I’m so damn lazy and don’t want to put the effort in to move them out–yet. I will be getting to that in a week or so once I setup a file with my domains (that’ll take me hours to do) and figure out what goes here. Hopefully things improve there during 2008…

2008 Domaining Forecasts quickie summary. Schumacher also says:

Just as for 2007, I see that we move even further down the road in our “domain evolution theory”, meaning less expiring market, more domain sales and portfolio sales

Dan Warner, COO of Fabulous.com says:

…2008 with[will] be the year of aftermarket domain stock and sales. After seeing some portfolios increase net profits by millions of dollars last year through new registrar aftermarket sales, domain owners are unlikely to ignore the high profit gains to be made in 2008

Robet Alfano, president of Domain Capital, says:

When you have an Oversee.net buy a Moniker in the first week of the new year you can only expect more acquisitions and mergers. And as we have stated before, we are looking to continue our growth and support within an industry that continues to grow at the speed of light.

I feel as if 2008 will be a big year for domainers. Of course, that’s said every year. But, it’s true every year! We always see more people trying to get into the market, and more realizations that a lot of the good names are already taken. This causes an increase in pricing. We can see the trends with LLLL.coms. Value has appreciated very nicely.

That’s it for now! The full article is at: http://www.dnjournal.com/cover/2008/january.htm.
