Can Fka200.com Be Successful?

Posted on | January 4, 2008 | 5 Comments

We always here it, and I always say it: it’s all in the domain name. We all know domains can be branded though. Stuff like Flickr, DigitalPoint, NamePros… hell, even names like JohnChow, Shoemoney, etc are all branded domains. They are the McDonalds of the net. I’ve always had people ask me: WTF Does Fka200 Mean?! I really don’t know. I blogged about “Fka200″ in my initial post. This got me thinking in the last week or two: Should Fka200 be Fka200.com? Should I go out and buy another domain and use that to waste my time blogging on?

Questions, questions, questions. I’m sure I have a domain right now that would probably work a hell of a lot better than Fka200.com. It’s just that I’ve been “known” as Fka200 for so damn long. Is it worth buying another domain? I think not. Maybe if I wanted, I would buy another domain for kicks and just blog some things on there… but Fka200.com is not going anywhere. I feel as if maybe one day it can become like a JohnChow.com or Shoemoney.com. Generic domains are great and I love ‘em, but branding works as well.

I also must mention my goal from this blog is not to make “income.” It was created just because the same questions regarding AdSense and other internet stuff are asked daily. Why not just post it on the blog instead of having to re-type the same thing over and over? Just post a link to your blog and move on. I’ve been spending A LOT of time on the forums lately. I have no idea why. Time for another vacation, I suppose.

Going to start getting into different online methods. I’ve been getting super interested in affliliate marketing and such. Granted I’ve never tried and know that when you start with something there’s a chance at losing money, I’m still willing to take the risk. I always read up before starting something, so that’s what I’m doing now. If anyone has any good links/blogs, post ‘em up. Remeber the blog is “DO FOLLOW.” If you post a link, you get SEO’d a little bit. I encourage SEO :) .

Alright, enough. This post was just to rant at all the “what does Fka200 mean” and reintroduce the Initial Post link for those that wonder. The blog has been up since November 15, 2007.

November 15-30 2007: 562 Total Uniques

Initial day: 29 hits… screw it, here’s a screen shot:

Fka200 November 2007 Stats

Not really used to such low numbers… but, I started the blog for personal reasons and not really to retire off of it in the first month. Decided to let things go natural… and here’s the December 2007 stats:

December 2007: 2366 Total Uniques

Not bad… and here’s January 2007 so far:

Fka200 January 2008 Stats

Once it’s January 15th, I’ll have another update with charts and stuff. Not exactly sure how the traffic arrive the first day… just started off with sig links in Namepros and DigitalPoint. SEO still hasn’t kicked in as much as I hoped it would… but, it hasn’t even been three months. I usually give SEO 3-6 months, so I’m still waiting. I’ve got all the nifty plugins right now… and somehow, articles seem to get indexed by Google within 15 minutes of posting. Fresh content daily helps a ton. Content is King!

I need to get my article ready for Jason’s blog TheUniversityKid.com.

Take care all! Hopefully I entertained well enough!

LOL yes, it is. I don’t think it has a meaning… I’m going to ask my cousin again. I remember asking him one day and he was like no clue… he was the original Fka006 and he gave me his AOL account and when it was time to create my own, I just went with Fka200 just so I can finally get it (it was a major point in my life–getting that America Online account and I didn’t want to sit there and think of a damn name).

Any website that keeps having useful and unique content can be successful, and your stats are pretty good. Anyway, I commented because of this: “and somehow, articles seem to get indexed by Google within 15 minutes of posting”. Wordpress has this great feature of pinging blog directories and pinging services (depends on what you have set it up to ping) whenever you add a new post. Your post title appears on them and Google quickly comes to index it. Good luck with your blog in 2008!

Yep. I take huge advantage of Wordpress and the pings. I’ve tried to SEO a bit, but not working as much as people normally do on backlinks.

    Thanks for the comments!

I see your domain is coming soon, will be looking forward to what’s going to be on there!
