Step By Step Tutorial To Make Money With Google Coop

Hopefully people find this useful
It’s a step-by-step guide for those who want to customize their AdSense For Search search input, yet can’t because it’s against AdSense TOS. The way around is: Use Google Co-op and associate your AdSense account with the Co-op engine to make money–while customizing the look and feel. This means you don’t need the Google logo/etc. on there!
K. IF YOU HAVE A GOOGLE ACCOUNT ALREADY, GO TO STRAIGHT TO STEP 2!
1) Create a Google Account: http://www.google.com/accounts
2) After account is created, login.
3) Go to Google Co-Op page: http://www.google.com/coop
4) Click on the “Custom Search Engine” link… boxed in the picture below (Click to Enlarge):
5) On the next page, click “Create A Custom Search Engine”… like in the picture below (Click to Enlarge):
6) On the next page, just input information. You don’t really need to complicate things because you will be using the “Advanced Code” instead of a Google hosted page… like the picture below to see the page (Click to Enlarge):
7) After you’ve clicked NEXT, the next page… you just click finish. Added picture for those who may need it (Click to Enlarge):
Alright, after you click finish you arrive at the control panel for your search engines. Click on the “Control Panel” link for the search engine you just created. Picture is provided (Click to Enlarge):
9) Now you get to a page where all the information you wrote is shown. Search engine name, description, etc. OK. I’m focusing on just how to customize Google Coop to act like AdSense For Search… except you can customize. So, I’m not going to explain any of the other features. It’s really all straight forward, but let me carry on. On this page, click on the “Make Money” link. This helps associate your AdSense account with your new Coop search engine. Picture provided below (Click to Enlarge):
10) OK. Now this where you insert your AdSense PUB-ID. To get your AdSense PUB-ID: Login to AdSense, Go to “My Account”, scroll down till you see “Property Information” and you get that number after ca-pub. Insert it into the box that asks for the pub-id. Take the appropriate steps in the Google Coop Make Money page… it’s not hard. You can also set a channel here. I already have my search engine set. It’s not hard…
11) Step 11 is the part where you actually get the code that resembles the AdSense for Search code to insert on your site. Remember: Doing this is actually only that helpful if you want to create a site that acts like a search engine. If you want to customize the search bar, this also works… sooo…. moving on… now click on the “CODE” tab. Picture below (Click to Enlarge):
12) Now you specify the URL you want to use for the search results (lets say I wanted to use http://www.fka200.com/search, I would put in http://www.fka200.com/search). Then you take the “Search Box Code” and that’s your new code. As you can see there is a value code, etc. You can just edit this as you like. There is also the “Search Results Code.” Use this where you want the results shown! Picture below (Click to Enlarge):
13) ALRIGHT. Now the whole inserting into your website and stuff… I’m not going to go through that. That should be really obvious. What I did was open Macromedia Dreamweaver > Create New HTML Page > Add The Code In. The rest of the stuff you basically customize as you wish with basic HTML.
In the end, you can get a “search engine” website. It’s a AdSense For Search clone except you can customize, have on a site with no content, etc. You can make it where the search results show up on another page. It doesn’t need to be on the same page.
This is my final result:
Hopefully this is what was asked for. Everything you need is in front of you. The creativity + basic HTML skill rests on you. Those I can’t help you with

Followup,
Now… you need traffic to your site to make it worthwhile, right? If you already have a site with traffic, possibly advertise it and hope that users bookmark the site and start using your website for their searches. This means a short domain is probably a good thing. This site isn’t going to generate a whole lot of revenue. You need a LOT of searches/day to make anything worthwhile, but it’s still a good tip for those that wanted to know. It’s hard to get traffic to a search engine–I’ve experimented before in the past. Wasn’t worth my time
.
EDIT @ 11:31AM:
I needed to edit this post to include: DO NOT USE THIS SEARCH ENGINE YOURSELF. A lot of people think it might be cool, but DONT. It’s not worth it and there really isn’t a point. If you click on the ads/etc, it can be considered CLICK FRAUD.
I assume the SAME rule applies to the Coop Engine as it does to AdSense for search when it comes to this:
We strongly recommend that you do not use the AdSense for search box on your site to perform searches yourself. Besides increasing the risk of accidental clicks on your own ads, searching through AdSense for search will result in reports that don’t properly reflect the traffic to your pages.

So, just to be safe… don’t do it. There really is no point. And if you really want to, create a new search engine but don’t associate your pub-id with it.

How did you remove the Google branding?

You just edit it out with basic HTML knowledge. I remember I DID change the way the style was under the “Look and Feel” and just deleted the Google picture, and it was easy to change what’s written on the button.

Correct me if I am wrong but is n’t removing the Google branding against the TOS?

Marc, this isn’t Google AdSense. It’s Google Co-op.
Google added a feature to Google Co-op where you can now associate your AdSense Pub ID with your Co-op search engine, and thus, help you earn revenue. The same was as AdSense for search. AdSense for search has limitations due to the Google AdSense TOS.
Google Co-op on the other hand is a program Google created that allows people to create their own “search engines.” Combine these two (search engine + “make money” association with AdSense pub id) and it equals customized ripped off version of AdSense TOS.
For the record, the AdSense team actually brought this to my attention when asking them a question. I wanted to customize and they said for AdSense for search its a big no-no, but I should look into Google Co-op. I did also ask them to check it and they said anything with Co-op is fine since there is no alterations of the code that’s against TOS since there are no AdSense codes involved. It’s just an association.

Your search does not work anymore on that example site.
