Parked Domain Getting Traffic But No Clicks!
Posted on | December 23, 2007 | 4 Comments
Do you have a parked domain that’s getting traffic but no clicks? If you do have a parked domain with low CTR but traffic and it’s frustrating the hell out of you this is what I suggest:
1) Switch parking providers. There’s a bunch of them out there and you should test the waters of domain parking companies to see where your domain feels at home (performs the best). I suggest Namedrive for non-US traffic because they have geo-targeted ads. Someone in China will see different keywords than someone in Spain. So if you have a domain with international traffic, Namedrive might be the best for you.
2) Develop the site. If it’s getting traffic but no clicks, you might as well develop the site into something. If it’s US traffic, you have a good chance at making a website that will actually become “better.” If it’s international traffic… lets say from China… you might have some problems… assuming you don’t read and write Chinese. I suggest tip #3 to figure out what exactly to do.
3) Tip 3. My personal favorite. Have a hosting provider? Great! Forward the nameservers of the domain to a website and use an iframe of the parking provider. Make sure you have something that gives you information about your traffic, like Google Analytics. This will give you stats about where your traffic is coming from, what keywords they used to get to your site if they came from search engines, and what country they are in (+ more). Optimize accordingly. Use the keywords for the terms they are searching for and ending up at your site. If this fails, search archive.org and see if your domain might’ve been previously owned and developed. Maybe you are getting left over traffic and people want what was on there. If parked, use the keywords that the previous site was about.
4) One tip that I needed to add is CHANGE TEMPLATES! Parking providers these days provide different templates. Change your template around to see which one works the best. I usually like more simple templates. Get the traffic in, show ‘em the ads, click, and leave!
If you have a bunch of domains that aren’t being used, PARK THEM! Click that link and go to the parked faq page and see which parking provider you want to choose. If you still need help, shout it out using the shout box!
Remember to always check out your stats. You don’t want lost revenue. In my previous thread titled “Make Sure You Park Domains” I had a domain that got over 1000 visitors in a week that I never parked! I just spent 2 hours making sure my parked domains were OK. Parking domains is good revenue… depending on your names

nice post, definitely a good idea to forward the traffic to the parking provider (for ND forward to ndparking.com/domainname.com) and use google analytics
some parking providers offer some data on where your traffic comes from but analytics gives more comprehensive data

Not such a good tip with the iframe/frame because Parking Companies and G/Y go after these and will remove it when discovered.
Much traffic no clicks? In 80 % fake or Bot traffic or your Parking company does not deliver relevant ads! Suggestion: Move away from NamdDrive as I did! Sedo.com is my one stop shopping for domains. Their ads are relevant and geotargeted for *any* international traffic.

The tip with the iframe works… if you use forwarding from your regisrar they provide the same feature. If you do it yourself, you can get the stats. Try it
.
Sedo is OK for European traffic SOMETIMES. It’s really best to try. I suggest to sign up with Namedrive first, then shop around depending on how good your portfolio is.
