Two New Google AdSense Updates
Posted on | December 13, 2007 | 2 Comments
In the past two-three days there have been two important Google AdSense updates.
1) OnSite Advertiser sign up has been discontinued.
Our recent findings indicate that the Onsite Advertiser Sign-up feature, which allowed advertisers to sign up for AdWords campaigns on your site, hasn’t been performing as well as we had hoped. We’ve elected to gracefully retire this feature and focus our efforts on developing and supporting features that drive better monetization results for you. Call it time management, call it ROI, call it our unwavering commitment to our publishers. We want you to earn more revenue, and sometimes that means “sunsetting” certain features we created.
I don’t think this is that big of a deal. Not many people used the Onsite advertising opportunity–speaking about the smaller sites. So, it doesn’t seem like something that’s going to change the way we see AdSense. The second change will, though.
2) Google ads “Scroll Bars.”
Google added a scroll bar feature on the ads. Not all ads have this feature, but I’ve seen this a lot while my normal day to day browsing yesterday. Today, I can’t really find them around. Hrmmmm. Anyways, here’s a picture of the new scroll ads:

I had to shamelessly ripped this pic off of a Digital Point thread since I couldn’t find them today. If I do find it, I’ll replace the image
