Fka200.com Battles Spam

Been receiving disgusting amounts of spam comments lately, so I needed to go ahead and combat the spam. I decided to make it a blog post to help other bloggers if they needed help to stop damn spammers as well.
First off: I want to apologize for having to add “questions” for people who want to comment:
I know it makes things a LITTLE bit difficult, but it was necessary. I’m sort of flattered to be getting large amounts of spam to the blog, though. It has only been up for about 3 weeks. Woot, I guess? Spam marks success? LOL. It’s probably automated and not targeted… maybe. Ok. Moving on:
For those that are using WordPress blogs, there is a plugin called “Gatekeeper.” All you do is use an FTP program to upload it (assuming you host your own blog) to your plugins folder under the wp-content folder.
Log in, go to “Plugins” tab, activate it, then go to the “Manage” tab, and create questions. I love that I didn’t use those stupid images cause those just piss me off sometimes. These questions are nice and simple.
Alright, and that’s it. Hope this lessens the amount of spam and doesn’t decrease the amount of comments. I want to add a section to the blog where people can actually leave requests about what they want blogged about. I’ve been receiving some PMs from various forums, but having it on the blog would make me a bit happier about creating it.
Forgot the water on the stove, Later!

Why’d you choose such a hard question?

LOL. I knew spammers had a teeny brain and couldn’t answer questions like that!

Askimet works great for me. I’ve tried a couple of other spam blockers, but they have caused problems with pingbacks/trackbacks showing up.

I really like this plugin but am always concerned that it will hurt my googleability… i think it’s good for blogs that are ment to build a community… and bad for sites that rely on google traffic… as a compromise I have it on about 1/2 my blogs

Why would the spam plugin be negative for SEO?
