Gobble Gobble – Happy Thanksgiving!

Aside from the fact that some of the best sales occur during Thanksgiving Day weekend, Thanksgiving Day is actually time where we are supposed take some time out to be thankful. A little background information on Thanksgiving:

1) Mainly a North American holiday to give thanks (it’s NOT celebrated worldwide).

2) In Canada Thanksgiving takes place on the second Monday in October. In the United States, Thanksgiving takes place on the fourth Thursday in November.

3) Earliest Thanksgiving took place in the British Colonies and Plymouth in 1621.

It’s the time of the year I wake up in the morning and don’t want to do anything. This year is going to be a little different for me. Back in 8th grade, I had a history teacher named Mr. Spellman. Mr. Spellman was notoriously known for his awkward “Gobble Gobble” comments. I remember during the week before Thanksgiving Spellman would go on a “gobble gobble” spree and really annoy the hell out of everyone. Aside from being a really hard and cranky teacher, he actually taught me a lot of lessons that I remember today (such as doing your work so you won’t be embarrassed in front of the class, studying ahead of time so when he announces grades you don’t look like an idiot, and other random things). Last year around Thanksgiving Day I remembered Mr. Spellman and was wondering if I should go pay him a visit at my old middle school. Being the lazy bum I am, I didn’t. A month later, I found out Mr. Spellman died of some sort of cancer and there were no more “gobble gobbles.” It hit me last year that times are changing. Memories need to be engraved because those who know the stories aren’t going to be around forever. Ever since last year, I always try to take care of things cause we never know when our time is up.

Being thankful I guess is something that we need to do. I believe there’s a lot of crap going on in the world and we really in fact live in a depressing rock in the universe, but it’s still nice to try and focus on the good things. I can’t think of many, but I really do hope there’s mashed potatoes and gravy at this years Thanksgiving feast. I LOVE mashed potatoes and gravy. Buy ‘em in the boxes at your local Vons (a supermarket) and just put in some hot water and BAM! Instant mashed potatoes! LOL. Moving on, for the few that read my blog (I’m hoping organic searches start soon–Fka200.com is still not indexed in Google)… just be thankful. Even in hard times, be thankful. When things suck, be thankful. When things are good, be thankful. If things are going great, be thankful. A positive attitude, in my opinion, is one of the few priceless things in this materialistic world of ours. It’s something that cannot be bought or manipulated. If we stay positive, I believe that things will in fact be positive. You know how they say when one bad thing happens, a lot of other bad things follow? I really believe that. So lets as a whole just be happy people and hopefully we can work person-by-person on improving the world we live in. With global warming and all of that going on, who knows what the future holds.

So, to everyone, have a Happy Thanksgiving Day. Have a Happy Thankful Every-Day. It’s nice to be positive and try to be better people. If we can all work at making the world a better place we can, and will, make a positive difference. If you don’t celebrate an official Thanksgiving day it doesn’t mean you are not thankful or don’t believe in being thankful… so if you’d like to participate, just hop on a forum and post a Happy Thanksgiving to everyone post! Also, if you feel nice, comment it on my blog :) . Enjoy all! I hope this post made sense… and I don’t want to sound all eco-friendly and stuff, but these are just my personal beliefs.
